What Is the Red Dot Design Award
Founded in Germany in 1955, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the three most prestigious design prizes in the world, alongside the iF Design Award and the Good Design Award. Every year, more than 20,000 products from over 60 countries compete in the categories of Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept.
Strict Evaluation CriteriaAn international jury of designers, architects, and specialized journalists assesses each submission according to rigorous criteria: innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, durability, environmental impact, and value for money. Only 1–2% of entries receive a Red Dot Award, making it a globally recognized seal of excellence.
International Visibility Red Dot Award winners are showcased at the Red Dot Design Museums in Essen (Germany) and Singapore, gain worldwide media exposure, and earn the right to use the prestigious Red Dot mark in their commercial communications.
York Desk: Award-Winning Design and Compasso d’Oro 2026 Nominee
Designed by Roberto Molteni, York Desk impressed the jury of the Red Dot Design Award 2024, one of the most prestigious international design competitions. But its success doesn’t end there: York Desk has also been selected for the 2024 ADI Design Index—the authoritative annual publication showcasing the best of Italian design—and is now officially in the running for the Compasso d’Oro 2026, the oldest and most respected industrial design award in the world, established in 1954.
